Jerry L. Walters

Jerry L. Walters was born in Cordell on August 31, 1946, to Clarence Robert and Georgia (Humphreys) Walters. He died on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the age of 77, at Binger Nursing Home.

Jerry attended school at Cordell, where he ran a newspaper route until he left his family home after the sixth grade. Jerry was 12 years old when he relocated to Fort Cobb, where he worked at Plaster's Service Station.

He married Kathy Mae Lucas on September 8, 1965, in Cordell. Jerry worked for Crazy Hill Cattle Company, also known as Finney and Son, for over 50 years until his health no longer allowed him to.

He enjoyed training horses, roping, collecting various items, working on vintage pickup trucks, amassing cars, attending horse sales, and visiting T-birds. Jerry was never on time; he was always early.

Jerry's greatest love was for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he had special nicknames for. Jerry took pleasure in going to church with his family and would give a dollar to every kid he saw at the church. He will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Walters Jr and his wife Lori of Carnegie, Gregory Allen Walters of Fort Cobb; grandchildren, Taryn Gregory and her husband Randy of Binger, Tyler Walters of Carnegie, Jera Beth Love and her husband Walker of Carnegie, Kassidy Lynn Walters at Fort Cobb; Karissa Bowers from Edmond, OK and a Kendi Horton from Cordell, OK; great-grandchildren, Randy Gregory and wife Kelci Hennessey, Colton Gregory of Mustang, Shelby Gregory of Binger, Bristol Walters of Carnegie, and Rory, Tuf, and Libby of Carnegie; great-great-grandchildren, Ava and Colin of Hennessy; two sisters, Linda Hirschler of Ingalls, Barbara Darcey and husband, Dan of Guymon; and many nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

Jerry's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Georgia Walters, wife Kathy Walters, and three brothers, Bobby, Eby Dale, and Jimmy Walters. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the community he was a part of.

The family, in recognition of the love and support they have received, invites the community to a Memorial Service at the First Baptist Church in Carnegie, Oklahoma, Saturday, 10:00 AM, June 29, 2024 . After the service, the family will meet and greet with friends at the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church in Carnegie, OK. Your presence and condolences are deeply appreciated. There will be a private family graveside at the Fort Cobb Cemetery at a later date.
