David Lee Umbarger Jr.

David Lee Umbarger Jr. was born on August 6, 1973, in Edmond, OK to David Lee and Camella (Trudy) (Norton) Umbarger. He passed away on June 25, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 50. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1992 and was very active with the R.O.T.C. David lived in many places due to his dad being in the US Army, Wellston and Guthrie, OK, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fort Knox, Kentucky and Germany.

David attended Oklahoma State University, Houston, and the University of Central Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2000, a Master of Arts in 2004 in Criminal Justice from UCO and a bachelor of business administration and MIS from UCO in 2014.

He worked at many jobs; two he considered fun jobs were bartender and then manager at Shorty Small’s and a bail bondsman in Galveston, Texas. There he was the owner, Mr. Lee’s favorite bondsman. Mr. Lee would tell “go fast.” Dave would ask “what if I get pulled over?” Mr. Lee would say, “tell the officer you work for me, you be fine!” He worked at the prison in Hinton, OK as a case manager and implemented a beneficial program for inmates. David worked as a systems analyst at Gemini Industries in El Reno, OK and an adjunct professor at UCO. At the time of his death, he worked as an IT Systems Analyst at Paycom Payroll in Oklahoma City, OK.

David enjoyed Star Trek, Star Wars and shows with good special effects, supported Oklahoma State University, loved Tool concerts, and was his grandma’s favorite grandchild.

Survivors include his two children; Bronsen Dane Umbarger from Bethany, OK, and Davin Ri Umbarger (Dru) of Binger, OK., two sisters; Julie Pearson and husband Jessey of Guthrie, OK, and Rosalie Hecksher and husband Kevin of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, his aunt and uncle, Joe and Candee Pride of Edmond, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, David Umbarger, Sr. and Trudy Norton, his grandparents, Warren and Lillian Pride, Joseph and Ellen Umbarger, and his uncle, Ray Norton.

Services: Church of Christ, Monday, July 1, 2024, 10:00 am, Binger, Ok.
